Two Early Baseball Figural Pieces (Batter and Inkwell)

Pair of decorative baseball figural pieces, each crafted in metal, dating from the early 1900s. 1) Baseball inkwell. The piece features a full-scale representation of a baseball, with hinged lid, that sits upon a metal base. Four raised "baseball bases" sit at each corner of the display base. No manufacturer listed, but a patent date of "Sept 2nd 1913" is stamped on the underside of the base. Moderate wear, commensurate with its age and former use. In Very Good condition. Base: 4.25 x 4.25 inches. Height: 3.5 inches. 2) Baseball batter. Figural Art Deco representation of a baseball player (holding a bat behind his back) sitting upon a square base. The manufacturer's name is stamped on the base: "FrankArt Inc. Pat Appld For." Frank Art Inc. was a leading producer of Art Deco figural pieces during the 1920s and 1930s. Moderate wear to the gilt finish. In Excellent condition overall. Base: 3.75 x 3.25 inches. Height: 7.75 inches. Total: 2 items. Reserve $200. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $593
