1914-1915 Federal League Ticket-Stub Collection (4)
Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $948
Collection of four exceedingly rare tickets from the short-lived Federal League (1914-1915). 1) 1914 Chicago Feds ticket stub (2.75 x 1.25 inches). The bleacher ticket is for "Set 16," which, according to our research, granted admission to a doubleheader against Indianapolis on Saturday, May 30th. Chicago split the doubleheader, losing the first game 5-0 and winning the second 1-0. Both games, of course, were played at the newly built Weegham Park (later renamed Wrigley Field), which later became home to the Chicago Cubs. Vg-Ex, with a few light creases. 2) 1915 Pittsburgh Rebels ticket stub (1.25 x 2.5 inches). The bleacher ticket is for "Game 6," which was issued for a doubleheader against St. Louis on April 29th. Pittsburgh won the first game 8-2, but dropped the second 9-7. A vintage pencil notation on the back reads "April 24, 1915 Feds" and gives the scores for a doubleheader sweep by St. Louis: "5-2" and "9-8," as well as listing the names "Plank, Camnitz + Barger." Those notations are obviously in error, as Pittsburgh was at St. Louis on April 24th, and this ticket is for a Pittsburgh home game. Ex, without reference to the written notations on the reverse. 3) 1915 Buffalo Feds ticket stub (2.75 x 1.25 inches). The bleacher ticket was issued for "Game 6," which took place on May 11th, against the Pittsburgh Rebels. The Rebels defeated Buffalo 1-0 that day. The reverse features an advertisement for Fleischmann's Restaurant. Vg-Ex, with light edge wear. 4) 1915 Pittsburgh Rebels complimentary pass (3.5 x 2.25 inches). The pass was issued for game "17," which took place on May 28th against Buffalo. Pittsburgh defeated Buffalo 4-0 on that date. The ticket is printed on thin-paper stock and admits entry to the grounds and grandstand. It has not been issued to anyone specifically. Ex-Mt. Total: 4 tickets. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$800.
