Rare original Underwood & Underwood news photo of the 1914 Buffalo "Feds." The photo captures twenty-two uniformed members of the club posing together on the field in a classic team pose, including Ford, Krapp, Agler, Smith, Downey, Hanford, Delehanty, and Young. Three separate Underwood & Underwood credit stamps appear on the reverse. The photo is accompanied by its original news caption, dated April 13, 1914, which also identifies each of the players pictured. April 13, 1914, marked the first game in Federal League history, with Baltimore edging Buffalo 3-2 in front of 27,100 opening-day fans at Terrapin Park in Baltimore. Any and all materials relating to the short-lived Federal League are rare, especially team photos. The fact that this photo dates to the opening game in league history makes it especially significant. The photo (8.5 x 6.5 inches) displays a few light-to-moderate creases and is in Very Good to Excellent condition overall. Reserve $200. Estimate $400+. SOLD FOR $356
