Graded NM/MT+ 92 by SGC. Remarkable ultra-high grade example of Harry Lumley (Brooklyn Superbas) from the T204 Ramly series. This card, which is an early SGC-graded example, is one of only sixteen cards (of any subject) ever to be graded NM/MT+ by SGC according to its Population Report. This is the only NM/MT+ example of Lumley. As noted in the introduction to the Ramly section of this auction, we believe that some of the early SGC-graded T204 Ramlys were sheet-cut decades ago by legendary hobby pioneer Frank Nagy, who in the 1970s had a pristine T204 Ramly sheet (the only one in existence), and this fact is likely related to the unparalleled perfection of this card. Ramlys are also among the most condition-sensitive sets in existence, with fragile gold borders easily susceptible to chipping. The offered example shows no evidence of any chipping at the corners and only a few tiny areas of chipping in the bottom border. It is perfectly centered with four sharp corners, a flawlessly clean and crisp image, and a perfect boldly printed reverse. The next highest-graded example listed on the SGC Population Report is an EX/NM+ 82. This is an absolutely stunning card in unparalleled NM/MT+ condition that would be a significant addition or upgrade to any T204 Ramly or vintage-card collection. Reserve $500. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $1,185
