1894 National League Schedule Booklet

Starting Bid - $100, Sold For - $178

Rare eighty-page soft-cover booklet (2.5 x 4.25 inches), titled Base Ball Schedule of the National League and American Association of Professional Base Ball Clubs - Season of 1894, issued by The Press (The Aggressive Republican Newspaper). The title of the booklet is odd in that the American Association folded after the 1891 season. Regardless, the booklet does provide the complete National League schedule for 1894, with space available to record the score of each game and the names of the starting pitchers. Also included are batting records from 1893, the names of team and league officials, and a number of interesting baseball facts, which are interspersed among the daily schedules. Advertising for The Press appears on the back cover and each interior cover. This is the first example of this very substantial and rare schedule booklet we have seen. The covers display light wear, including minor toning and a few light creases. The interior pages are free of any written notations with the exception of the number "92507" displayed in pencil along the top border of the first page. In Very Good to Excellent condition. Reserve $100. Estimate $200/$400. SOLD FOR $178
