1888 Pocket Baseball Schedule with Cap Anson on the Cover
Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $593
Small, soft-cover booklet, issued as a promotional piece by the Chicago, Milwaukee, and St. Paul Railway, listing the entire National League schedule for the 1888 season. In addition to being an extremely rare early schedule-booklet, the decorative cover design, which features a bust-length illustration of Cap Anson, the top player of the era, makes this an exceptional item for display. Anson's portrait is set within an attractive crossed-bats-and-ball motif, below which is a game-in-progress scene. The sixteen-page booklet (2.5 x 5.25 inches) has a small ink stain along the top border of the front cover and slight area of surface paper loss on the back cover. The pages remain clean and bright. In Very Good to Excellent condition overall. Reserve $200. Estimate $400+. SOLD FOR $593
