1935 R331 National Chicle #34 Bronko Nagurski

Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $5,100

Graded VG/EX 50 by SGC (submitted by REA). An exceptionally attractive VG-EX example of the most famous and highly prized key football-card rarity: Bronko Nagurski in the 1935 National Chicle Football Stars set. The offered example is extremely bright and clean, with strong colors and crisp registration. The corners display even, light wear. The image is centered just a hint to the top. The reverse is clean with bold blue print. Nagurski's rookie card is one of the most popular and recognizable football cards from any era. This card has always been highly sought-after, on any short list of the hobby's most classic football cards, and, of course, very rare to find in any grade. This is a beautiful example that would be a worthy addition to any R331 National Chicle set or world-class classic Hall of Fame football-card collection. The equivalent SMR value in the assigned grade is $3,750.

The item in this lot is part of the deaccessioned property of a prominent northeast museum which has selected Robert Edward Auctions to handle the sale of donated sportscards and memorabilia in an effort to fund purchases more in line with the mission and goals of the museum.
