2005 Robinson Cano Signed Pro-Model Rookie Bat with LOA from Cano Attesting to Its Game-Used Status
Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $540
Robinson Cano Mattingly Baseball bat (no model number listed) dating from the 2005 season. The black bat, with cupped barrel end, is stamped "Professional Beech" and "New York Yankees." Cano has personally attested to its game-used status during his 2005 rookie season by inscribing it "Robinson Cano/Game Used/Rookie 2005" in silver paint pen on the sweet spot of the barrel. It is also accompanied by a one-page typed-signed LOA, on Elite Sports Marketing letterhead, from Cano in which he again confirms its game use. In part: "I, Robinson Cano, hereby verify that this Mattingly Baseball bat has been game used by myself during the 2005 season, my rookie season!" The bat, which is not cracked, displays outstanding use along its entire length, including numerous, deeply embedded ball and stitch marks on the barrel, and pine tar on the handle (concentrated near the center brand). Cano is known to have used a number of different bat brands during his career, but this is the first Mattingly Baseball brand example we have ever seen. Its rookie-year status, combined with the fact that it was manufactured by the company of one of the greatest Yankee players of the modern era and comes with outstanding provenance, makes this one of the most desirable Cano bats imaginable. Cano batted .297 with 14 home runs and 62 RBI in 2005, numbers which helped him finish second in the Rookie of the Year Award balloting. Considered one of the game's top hitters today, Cano has batted over .300 in eight of his ten major league seasons, including a career-high .342 in 2006. Length: 34 inches. Weight: 32.8 ounces.
LOA from Robinson Cano and LOA from James Spence/JSA (for the autograph only).
