2006 Yankee Stadium Pitching Rubber -Signed by Mariano Rivera- Used by Rivera For Career Saves 394-397 w/ Steiner LOA and Accompanying Game-Used Items
Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $3,000
Yankee Stadium pitching rubber, used during a nine-game home stand between June 23rd and July 2nd, 2006, on which future Hall of Fame pitcher Mariano Rivera recorded career saves 394, 395, 396, and 397. Rivera has personally attested to the pitching rubber's game-used status by inscribing it in black Sharpie, "Mariano Rivera/Enter Sandman/Game Used Saves/394, 395, 396, 397 June 06." It is also accompanied by an LOA (and corresponding hologram label) from Steiner Sports, as well as an authentication hologram label from MLB (#BB024485). Together with a color copy of a photo of Rivera signing this very pitching rubber. The Yankees' nine-game home stand featured three games each against the Florida Marlins (June 23, doubleheader on June 25), Atlanta Braves (June 26, 27, and 28), and New York Mets (June 30, July 1, and 2). Rivera recorded four saves during that stretch: June 23, June 25 (first game of the doubleheader), June 26, and June 30. Ideally, the rubber is accompanied by four additional game-used items from the nine-game home stand: 1) Game-used baseball from the June 26th game against the Braves, signed (at a later date) in blue ink (grading "10") by Mariano Rivera, Robinson Cano, Johnny Damon, Mike Mussina, Jason Giambi, Jose Molina, and Melky Cabrera; 2) Game-used baseball from the July 2nd game against the New York Mets; 3) Rosin bag used in the July 2nd game against the New York Mets; 4) small amount of game-used dirt from the pitcher's mound on July 2nd against the New York Mets. All of the accompanying game-used items come with a Steiner LOA and have a MLB authentication hologram label, with the exception of the dirt (Steiner LOA only). Each item displays appropriate game-used wear and is otherwise in Excellent condition. Total: 5 items (pitching rubber, two game-used balls, rosin bag, and vial of dirt). LOA from James Spence/JSA.
