1910-Era Hall of Famer Postcard Collection (3)
Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $480
Collection of three different 1910-era postcards, each depicting a different Hall of Famer. 1) 1907 Grignon Postcards Frank Chance: SGC GOOD 30. Rare and distinctive postcard of Chicago Cubs Hall of Famer Frank Chance. This photographic postcard set was produced to commemorate the Cubs' participation in the 1907 World Series and is one of the most popular baseball postcard issues of the era. Modestly graded due to scattered creasing and honest wear at the corners. No writing or postmarking on the reverse. 2) Circa 1908 George E. Wright Postcard Morgan Bulkeley: Unusual fold-out postcard featuring Hall of Famer Morgan Bulkeley as a U.S. Senator and President of the Connecticut Bridge Commission. One of the few cards available of Bulkeley, this postcard dates to approximately thirty years after his term as the first President of the National League. An inset of Bulkeley's image is printed against a bridge scene on the front of the postcard (a cancellation mark passes through the image) with images of two additional bridges printed inside. The back panel is a traditional postcard reverse, which displays writing and a 1908 postmark. The postcard measures 3.5 x 11 inches when folded out. Very Good condition overall. 3) 1913-1915 Pinkerton Postcard #153 Hughie Jennings: SGC POOR 10. Striking example of Detroit Tigers Hall of Famer Hughie Jennings from this series, which is closely related to the T5 Pinkerton Cabinet issue and features the very same images and captions design as appear on the T5 cabinets. The blank reverse is written on and postmarked in 1913. Very Good condition overall without respect to the writing. This is a fascinating collection of postcards, featuring exclusively Hall of Famers, worthy additions to any vintage postcard or Hall of Famer collection. Total: 3 cards. SOLD FOR $480
