Jackie Robinson Large-Format Photo

Starting Bid - $100, Sold For - $240

Charming, large-format photo (16 x 20 inches) capturing Jackie Robinson posing with a group of young fans on the field in 1952. This photo, taken by professional photographer Phillip Sarno, is one of three previously unpublished photos of Robinson that were recently discovered by Sarno's son. Shortly afterwards the Baseball Hall of Fame was granted the right to sell a limited number of special-edition prints, of which this is one. The printed caption, matted below the photo, reads "This classic photograph of Jackie Robinson was taken prior to a 1952 World Series game against the rival New York Yankees at Ebbets Field. Following batting practice, Robinson invited a group of little league ballplayers onto the field for a group photograph with the future Hall of Famer. This image reflects the character and decency of one of the most courageous individuals to ever play the game." Despite the fact that this is a modern print, it remains one of the most moving Jackie Robinson photos we have ever seen and one that would be perfect for display in either home or office. The photo is in apparent Mint condition and has been matted and framed to total dimensions of 23 x 31.5 inches. SOLD FOR $240
