Mrs. George Weiss New York Yankees Memorabilia Collection

Collection of Yankee memorabilia originating from Hazel Weiss, wife of former Yankees general manager George Weiss (who was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1971). Our consignor's sister-in-law's great aunt was best friends with Hazel Weiss. These items were personally given to the aunt by Mrs. Weiss, who in turn passed them down to the sister-in-law. They eventually ended up in our consignor's possession, who after many years, has decided to part with them. 1) 1949 American League season pass in its original brown-leather holder (4.75 x 3.25 inches). The pass, numbered "41," is made out to "Mrs. George M. Weiss and Party" and features the facsimile signature of league president William Harridge. Also included in the holder is one of Mrs. Weiss' business cards ("Interior Decorator"). Nr-Mt. 2) Gold-colored money clip featuring the Yankees' logo on the front in red-white-and-blue enamel. Light tarnishing, otherwise Nr-Mt. 3) Gold-colored charm bracelet featuring a bat-and-ball attachment. Nr-Mt. 4) Small blue Balfour's jeweler's box (3 x 3 x 1.25 inches) featuring the Yankee logo in gilt lettering on the lid. Ex-Mt. 5) Small New York Yankees beanie cap. Navy blue brim and "NY" logo on front. Size: Medium. Nm-Mt. 6) White bath towel bearing the green initials "GMW." A small bat-and-ball design appears alongside the initials. Nr-Mt. 7) Two-page handwritten letter (undated, on both sides of a single sheet) from Mrs. Weiss, along with a few 1960s newspaper articles relating to George Weiss. Ex. Total: 7 items. SOLD FOR $420
