Collection of five vintage Waite Hoyt news photos dating from the 1920s, all of which picture the Hall of Fame pitcher in uniform as a member of the New York Yankees. 1) Close-up portrait. "Wide World Photos" credit stamp and "Sep 20 1923" date stamp on reverse, as well as various handwritten editorial notations. 6 x 8 inches. Gd, with editorial shading, corner chips, and tack holes. 2) Close-up portrait. Three stamps on reverse: "N. Y. World," "Hugh O'Neil Photographer," and "Filed Aug 7 1925." A few handwritten editorial notations also appear on the reverse. 6.5 x 8.5 inches. Gd, with a heavy crease and numerous tack holes. 3) Full-body image (profile) on the field. Stamps on the reverse includ, "N. Y. World," "Hugh O'Neil Photographer," and "Filed Aug 20 1926." Also included are a few handwritten editorial notations. 6.75 x 9.75 inches. Gd-Vg, with corner chips and light creasing. 4) Pitching pose warming up on the sidelines. Two stamps on reverse: "Underwood & Underwood" and "Filed Oct. 9 1927." Also included are a few handwritten editorial notations. Trimmed to its current dimensions of 7 x 7.75 inches. Vg, with light creases and editorial marks on the front. 5) Full frontal pitching pose. Two stamps on reverse: "Thorne Photographer" and "Filed Apr 20 1928." A few handwritten notations also appear on the reverse. Trimmed to its current dimensions of 5.75 x 10 inches. Gd, with a number of moderate tears along the top and bottom, as well as light creasing. Total: 5 photos.
