1906 St. Louis Cardinals (vs. Philadelphia) Program
Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $1,080
Rare St. Louis Cardinals program issued for a game against the Philadelphia Phillies in 1906. The substantial twenty-page program includes the team's 1906 schedule, as well as player statistics from the previous year. The preprinted lineups include Burch, Bennett, Shannon, and Smoot for St. Louis and Gleason, Bransfield, Magee, and Titus for Philadelphia. Neatly scored in pencil to record a 6-2 Cardinals victory. Research indicates that the only 6-2 St. Louis home victory over Philadelphia in 1906 occurred on July 11th. Major league programs from the early 1900s are extremely scarce and this one is notable for its fine state of preservation. The program (5.25 x 7.75 inches) displays light-to-moderate toning and two small areas of paper loss on the back cover as a result of having once been mounted in an album. A proprietary stamp from legendary pioneer sports memorabilia and book dealer Goodwin Goldfaden also appears on the back cover. Aside from those minor condition flaws, the program remains in Excellent to Mint condition.
