Two Circa 1900 Baseball-Motif Andirons

Pair of detailed cast-iron figural andirons depicting a baseball pitcher and batter, respectively. These are classics in the antique world, and have long been prized by both baseball and folk-art collectors for their display value. Both andirons display heavy oxidation, but are otherwise in Excellent condition. As a point of reference, this is only the third pair of these attractive baseball andirons we have ever offered. The first pair sold for $4,350 in our May 2005 auction (Lot 679), while the other pair realized $3,258 in our April 2014 sale (Lot 1089). Dimensions: 19.5 (height) x 7 (width) inches.
