Ted Williams Signed Commemorative Jersey with Special #9 and Career HR Notations

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,920

Ted Williams commemorative jersey, signed by Williams in blue Sharpie (grading "10") on the left breast. What distinguishes this jersey from the standard Ted Williams signed jersey in the hobby is the fact that the "Splendid Splinter" has added his uniform number ("9") and career home-run total ("521 H. R.") directly below his signature. This is one of only a few Ted Williams signed commemorative jerseys featuring his handwritten number "9" that we have ever seen. The fact that he has also added his career home-run total makes it an especially rare and desirable display piece signed by the legendary "Splendid Splinter." The jersey (size L), produced by Mitchell & Ness, is a replica of Williams' Boston Red Sox road jersey dating from the years 1942 through 1945 and is complete with a patriotic "Health" patch (worn by all clubs during World War II) on the left sleeve. Mint condition. LOA from James Spence/JSA. SOLD FOR $1,920
