Don Larsen Perfect Game Photo Display - Signed by Numerous Participants
Starting Bid - $100, Sold For - $180
Collection of three different photographic prints, matted together, all picturing Don Larsen during his perfect game in the 1956 World Series. Each photo has been signed by one or more participants in the game. The top photo (7.5 x 9.5 inches) has been signed in black Sharpie (grading "10") by Andy Carey (all of the other signatures on the photo are stamped facsimiles). The middle photo (9.75 x 7.5 inches) has been signed in blue marker by Don Larsen, Enos Slaughter, Yogi Berra, Hank Bauer, Gil McDougald, and Andy Carey. Signatures range from "8" to "10," averaging "9," with the exception of Carey ("2," very faint). The bottom photo (6.75 x 10 inches) has been signed in blue Sharpie (grading "9/10") by both Larsen and Berra. This display has a special provenance in that it originates directly from the personal collection of Jim "Doc" Ewell, who spent more than seven decades as a major league trainer, including long stints with both the Philadelphia Athletics (he began his career with the club in 1938) and Houston Astros. It has been consigned directly by Ewell's son. All of the photos are in apparent Near Mint condition. Total dimensions: 12 x 32 inches. LOA from James Spence/JSA. SOLD FOR $180
