1941 Baseball Autograph Book Including DiMaggio, Ott, and Cuyler

Small autograph album, dating from 1941, featuring the signatures of thirty-one major league players and umpires, including six Hall of Famers: Mel Ott, Joe DiMaggio, Phil Rizzuto, Kiki Cuyler, L. Waner, and Jocko Conlon (umpire). Included among the remaining signatures are those of Bobby Bragan, Babe Pinelli (umpire), Babe Dahlgren, Nick Etten, Chuck Dressen, Clyde McCullough, Schoolboy Rowe, Ziggy Sears (umpire), Sibby Sisti, Babe Phelps, Frank Gustine, Kirby Higbe, Jim Wasdell, F. Ike Pearson, and Pete Coscarart. The book has also been signed by Brooklyn Dodgers announcer Red Barber and Dodgers organist Gladys Gooding. All of the signatures are scripted in pencil and grade from "6" to "10," averaging "8/9." The vast majority of the pages in this book are signed by classmates of the original owner, who attended P.S. 150 in New York. The opening page is dated June 1941, and most of the entries by the classmates are also dated that same month and year. The pencil notation "World Series" appears on the page featuring the autographs of DiMaggio and Rizzuto, while another page, featuring the signatures of Cuyler and four others is dated "Sept 27, 1941." The brown leather-bound book (6.25 x 4.5 inches) is well worn and displays minor tape reinforcement to the spine along the front interior cover. In Very Good condition overall.
