1960 New York Yankees Team-Signed Card Collection (44) Including Two Mantles and Two Maris

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $2,700

This collection of forty-four baseball cards is comprised of at least one signed example for thirty-five of the thirty-eight players who appeared on the 1960 New York Yankees official roster, plus manager Casey Stengel and all four coaches (a few duplicates, including Mantle and Maris, are represented here). Missing only Jim Pisoni, Johnny James, and Billy Shantz for completion. Ideally, all but eight players have signed examples of their respective 1960 Topps baseball card (some roster players were not included in the 1960 Topps set because they only appeared in the majors for a brief period of time that season). All of the signatures, executed in a variety of inks (mostly ballpoint pen or marker), appear on the front of the card and range from "6" to "10," averaging "9." Cards grade from Fair to Excellent, averaging Vg-Ex.

Mantle (two examples, 1960 Topps #350 and #563, both encapsulated by PSA/DNA. The signature on card #563 has been graded MINT 9 by the company, while the signature on card #350 has been certified as "Authentic." The flip on card #350 has been mislabeled as 1965). Maris (two examples, 1960 Topps #377 and #565, both encapsulated by PSA/DNA, with each signature certified as "Authentic"). Berra (1960 Topps #480), Stengel (1960 Topps #227), Ford (1960 Topps #35), Howard (1960 Topps #65, encapsulated by PSA/DNA, with the signature certified as "Authentic"), and Boyer (1960 Topps #109).

The remaining 1960 Topps cards are # 51 (Coates), 83 (Kubek, two examples), 96 (Terry), 102 (Hadley), 134 (Johnson), 142 (Short), 163 (Lopez), 183 (Grba), 196 (Carey), 202 (Kipp), 204 (Duren), 237 (Valo), 247 (McDougald), 270 (Turley), 283 (Blanchard), 315 (Bobby Shantz), 358 (DeMaestri), 370 (Skowron), 375 (Long), 405 (Richardson), 415 (Cerv), 430 (Ditmar), 465 (three examples, Yankee coaching staff. The first is signed by Frank Crosetti, with the card encapsulated by PSA/DNA and the signature certified as "Authentic." The second is signed by Bill Dickey, while the third is signed by both Ralph Houk and Ed Lopat), and 553 Skowron). The eight non-1960 Topps cards are as follows: 1) 1964 Topps #457 Jesse Gonder. 2) 1963 Topps #29 (1963 Rookie Stars; signed by Gonder, Ellis, and Culp). 3) 1962 Topps #291 Hal Stowe. 4) 1961 Topps #142 Luis Arroyo. 5) 1961 Topps #213 Bill Stafford. 6) 1956 Topps #57 Duke Maas (encapsulated by PSA/DNA, with the signature certified as "Authentic"). 7) 1963 Topps #207 Ken Hunt (encapsulated by PSA/DNA, with the signature certified as "Authentic"). 8) 1960 Leaf #62 John Gabler.
