1939 Kenesaw Landis and Connie Mack Signed First-Day Cover - PSA/DNA
Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $1,200
1939 Baseball Hall of Fame first-day cover signed in black fountain pen by baseball commissioner "Kenesaw M. Landis" and Philadelphia A's manager "Connie Mack." Encapsulated by PSA/DNA, which has graded each signature MINT+ 9.5. The envelope bears a "Jun 12, 1939, Cooperstown N.Y." postmark and a three-cent Baseball Centennial stamp. Both Landis and Mack were in attendance at the dedication of the National Baseball Hall of Fame on June 12,1939, and it seems reasonable to assume that they each signed this piece on that historic date. Mack was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1937; Landis in 1944, shortly after his passing. The envelope (6.5 x 3.5 inches) displays a small abrasion above the baseball vignette and a name lightly written in pencil along the base (illegible). In Very Good to Excellent condition. LOA from James Spence/JSA.
