1936 New York Yankees World Champions Team-Signed Ball with Gehrig and DiMaggio
Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,080
Official American League (Harridge) ball signed in black fountain pen by the following twenty-two members of the 1936 World Champion New York Yankees: Gehrig (sweet spot, slight enhancement, grading "5"), DiMaggio (very faint, "1/2"), Lazzeri, Gomez, Dickey, Ruffing, Hoag (clubhouse signature), Pearson, Heffner, Malone, Johnson, Selkirk, Saltzgaver, Glenn, Kleinhans, Hadley, Rolfe, Crosetti, Murphy, Powell, Brown, and one other (badly faded, illegible). Signatures range from "1" to "7," averaging "4." A few of the signatures display vintage minor enhancements, including Gehrig, Rolfe, and Hadley. 1936 marked the first of four consecutive World Championships for the New York Yankees, a feat that would be exceeded only by the 1949-1953 Yankees World Championship dynasty. 1936 New York Yankees team-signed balls with authentic Gehrig and DiMaggio signatures (as opposed to clubhouse examples) are particularly scarce. This is a highly significant memento dating from the start of the club's historic four-year World Championship run. The ball displays minor soiling/toning throughout, including a few very light abrasions. All of the manufacturer's stampings remain legible. In Very Good condition overall. LOA from James Spence/JSA. SOLD FOR $1,080
