1930 St. Louis Cardinals National League Champions Team-Signed Game-Used Ball
Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $720
Red-and-black stitched ball (manufacturer's label is badly faded, but it appears to be an official National League ball) signed in blue fountain pen by the following thirteen members of the National League Champion St. Louis Cardinals: Haines, Frisch, Bottomley, Hafey, Street (Mgr.), Douthit, Fisher, Gelbert, Adams, Bell, Orsatti, High, and Watkins. Signatures range from "7" to "3," averaging "6." According to the vintage handwritten notation on the sweet spot, this ball was used in a game against the Phillies: "Used in the game of the/Cardinals vs. Philadelphia/Aug 23-1939/St. Louis, Mo." The Cardinals defeated the Phillies 9-6 that afternoon. Frankie Frisch was the hitting star for the Red Birds, recording three hits, including a double and triple, while Jessie Haines went the distance on the mound for the win. The ball displays all of the characteristics of a game-used ball, including moderate soiling and a few light abrasions. In Very Good condition overall. LOA from James Spence/JSA. SOLD FOR $720
