1924 Walter Johnson (and Muddy Ruel) Signed Album Page - PSA/DNA GEM MT 10

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $3,600

Vintage autograph-album page signed in black fountain pen by Walter Johnson and Washington Senators teammate Muddy Ruel (signed "H. Ruel"). The salutation "Very Truly Yours," written in an unknown hand, appears above the signatures. The album page has been encapsulated by PSA/DNA, which has certified and graded the Walter Johnson signature GEM MT 10. The Ruel signature is also boldly signed and grades "9." According to a typewritten notation on the page, these signatures were obtained in Cleveland on September 18, 1924 (research indicates that the Senators defeated the Indians in Cleveland that day by a score of 9-5; Ruel had three hits; Johnson did not appear in the game). Additional typewritten notations included the name, position, and team affiliation of each player, as well as the fact that the Senators went on to win the World Series that season. The page (5 x 3 inches) displays three notebook holes along the left border and a small piece of paper residue in the upper left and lower right corners. In Excellent condition overall. This is an outstanding Walter Johnson signature example, dating not only from his active playing career, but from his one and only World Championship season. LOA from James Spence/JSA. SOLD FOR $3,600
