1928 Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals Signed Ball with Grover Alexander on the Sweet Spot

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $2,400

Official National League (Heydler) ball signed in blue fountain pen by various members of both the 1928 St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs (eleven signatures total). The Cardinal signatures are those of Grover Alexander (sweet spot), Frankie Frisch, George Harper, Ernie Orsatti, and Tommy Thevenow (last name only). The Cubs are represented by the signatures of Norm McMillan, Percy Jones (twice), Woody English, Guy Bush, and Earl Webb. Signatures range from "4" to "7," averaging "6." Alexander recorded sixteen wins for the Cardinals in 1928, which helped the club capture its second pennant in three seasons. Unfortunately, they were swept in the World Series by the powerful New York Yankees. The ball is moderately soiled, indicative of its having possibly been game used, and has been coated with a layer of protective shellac. In Very Good condition overall. LOA from James Spence/JSA. SOLD FOR $2,400
