Ross Youngs Memorabilia Collection Including Telegrams from McGraw and the New York Giants on the Occasion of His Death in 1927

Miscellaneous collection of personal items originating from the Youngs family. The most significant are five Western Union telegrams addressed to Youngs' mother immediately following Youngs' death on October 22, 1927. Included are sympathy telegrams (8 x 6.5 inches) from Giants manager John McGraw, Giants president Charles Stoneham, Giants secretary James Tierney, and concessionaire Harry M. Stevens. The remainder of the items are comprised of the following: 1) Stock certificate (11 x 8.5 inches), dated May 14, 1922, made out to Youngs certifying him as the owner of an undivided pro-rata interest in the assets of The Alamo Country Club. Ex. 2) A sympathy card (6.5 x 8.25 inches) issued by the B. P. O. Elks club following Youngs death in 1927. Ex, with a horizontal and vertical fold. 3) Circa 1917 Selective Service "Certificate of Acceptability" certifying Youngs as "acceptable for induction into the armed forces." 8 x 5.25 inches. Vg.
