1971 Topps #5 Thurman Munson SGC MINT 96 - Highest Graded!

Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $4,200

Graded MINT 96 by SGC. One of only two examples graded at this level by SGC with none higher out of 288 cards evaluated to date! (Incredibly, PSA has only graded four MINT 9 examples of out 1,650 cards evaluated to date.) Stunning and unbelievably ultra high-grade example of #5 Thurman Munson from the 1971 Topps set. The 1971 Topps set is naturally prone to many different problems, including centering issues, print quality, and especially corner and edge chipping. This card is essentially perfect in all respects. The centering is virtually perfect. All four corners are razor-sharp. The corners and edges exhibit no wear or chipping whatsoever, even under extreme magnification, which is particularly remarkable. Perfectly crisp and clean, both front and back. Entirely deserving of its MINT grade and borderline GEM MINT condition! This is a world-class ultra high-grade example of one of Thurman Munson's most iconic cards from one of the most condition-sensitive sets ever produced. SOLD FOR $4,200
