1969 Topps Complete Set (664)
Starting Bid - $400, Sold For - $5,400
Grades 52% Nr/Mt or better, 42% Ex-Mt, and 6% Ex. Outstanding high grade set! The 1969 Topps set is highlighted by the rookie cards of Oakland A's HOFers Reggie Jackson and Rollie Fingers, plus the last card of Mickey Mantle. This final card of "The Mick," who retired March 1, 1969, contains his complete statistical record on the reverse. Consigned by the family of an old-time collector, this set has been carefully stored away for decades and was very likely assembled directly out of packs in the year of issue. This is a beautiful set with many extremely high-grade cards. We have selected six cards to be graded and encapsulated by SGC. Keys: #20 Banks (Ex+), 50 Clemente (Ex), 95 Bench (Ex+), 100 Aaron (EX/NM+ 82), 120 Rose (NM/MT 88), 130 Yastrzemski (Ex-Mt+), 190 Mays (NM 84), 200 Gibson (Ex-Mt), 250 Robinson (Ex-Mt), 255 Carlton (Nr/Mt+), 260 Jackson (NM+ 86), 480 Seaver (Ex-Mt), 500 Mantle (NM 7), 510 Carew (Ex-Mt+), 533 Ryan (NM+ 86), 550 Robinson (Ex), 573 Palmer (Nr/Mt), 597 Fingers (Ex-Mt), and 630 Bonds (Nr/Mt). Also included are eight variations (#47, 49, two 77, 107, 151, 208, and 582). Spectacularly clean and crisp high-grade set with the usual number of mostly minor centering problems, which accounts for the downgrades on almost all the cards graded Ex or Ex-Mt. The equivalent SMR value for just the six graded cards (factoring in the three half-grades at the lower whole-grade level and not including the 659 ungraded cards!) is $977. Total: 672 cards (complete set of 664 plus eight variations). SOLD FOR $5,400
