1963-1971 Topps Insert and Unusual Set Collection (14 sets, 1,021 cards)

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $2,400

Collection of fourteen complete sets (except for two near-complete sets) of Topps insert/oddball issues. Far scarcer than standard Topps issues of the era, the unusual oddball sets Topps was forever coming up with in the 1960s and early 1970s continue to add a tremendous dimension of interest to collecting today, just as they did when they were originally issued. Many of these sets are very scarce because they were issued only one insert per pack. The 1965 Topps Transfers are particularly tough to find. 1) 1961 Topps Stamps Near-Complete Set in Original Album (195/208 stamps): Missing thirteen stamps for completion. Entirely mounted in original collector's album. Overall condition of the stamps is Ex or better; album is Vg. 2) 1962 Topps Stamps Complete Set in Original Album (200 stamps): Entirely mounted in original collector's album. Overall condition of the stamps is Ex or better, with scattered centering issues as is typical for this set. Album is Vg-Ex. 3) 1963 Topps Peel-Offs Complete Set (46). Grades Ex-Mt to Nr/Mt, with five slightly lesser. 4) 1965 Topps Embossed Complete Set (72). Grades 56% Ex-Mt to Nr/Mt and 44% Ex (almost entirely due to centering). 5) 1965 Topps Transfers Partial Set (47/72). Missing twenty-five transfers to be complete: Allen, Alvis, Bouton, Bunning, Chance, Christopher, Freehan, Fregosi, E. Howard, Koufax, Kranepool, Mantle, Marichal, Maye, Mazeroski, Oliva, Pappas, Pinson, Powell, Rodgers, Skowron, Spangler, Veale, B. Williams, and Yastrzemski. Grades 90% Ex-Mt to Nr/Mt and 10% Ex. 6-9) Four 1964 Topps Giants Complete Sets (240 cards total). Bright, crisp, and clean complete sets. Grades 75% Ex-Mt to Nr/Mt-Mt and 25% Ex (almost entirely due to centering). 10) 1968 Topps Game Complete Set (33). 67% Ex-Mt to Nr/Mt and 33% Ex (almost entirely due to centering). 11) 1969 Topps Decals Complete Set (48). Grades Ex to Nr/Mt (averaging Ex-Mt). 12) 1969 Topps Deckle Edge Complete Set (33 plus two variations for 35 total). Bright, crisp, and clean. Grades 40% Ex-Mt or better and 60% Vg-Ex to Ex (almost entirely due to centering). 13) 1970 Topps Super Complete Set (42). Grades Nr/Mt overall. 14) 1971 Topps Super Complete Set (63). Grades Ex to Ex-Mt, with some Nr/Mt and some lesser due to miscut fronts. Very neat collection of fourteen unusual Topps complete or near-complete sets. Total: 1,021 cards. SOLD FOR $2,400
