Starting Bid - $2,500, Sold For - $6,600

17% Nr/Mt or better, 41% Ex-Mt, 39% Ex, and 3% lesser. Presented is a very sharp-looking, carefully assembled, high-grade near-complete master set of the classic 1957 Topps issue. A total of 407 cards comprise a basic set of this issue, while an additional fourteen cards are required for a true master set of 421 cards. These additional cards include checklists in one of two advertising variations, contest cards, a Lucky Penny insert card, and the printing variation for card #176 (the "Bakep" error). The near-complete master set offered here consists of 420 of the 421 cards in a master set, missing only #176b "Bakep" for completion. Highlighted by the rookie cards of Don Drysdale, Frank Robinson, and Brooks Robinson, the 1957 Topps includes many additional key star cards, among them Ted Williams and Mickey Mantle. Of the 420 cards in this near-complete master set, sixty-seven are professionally graded and encapsulated (fifty-three PSA, ten SGC, three GAI, and one BVG), including almost all of the many key cards.

1957 Topps has always been very popular due to its classic photographic style and inclusion of so many stars. This is an extremely attractive near-complete master set grading almost entirely Ex to Nr/Mt-Mt. Almost all of the lesser-graded cards present with bold colors and strong corners but are downgraded due to centering, which is a common problem with this issue. The 1957 Topps represents one of the all-time classic 1950s issues from the "golden years" of baseball. The SMR value for just sixty-one of the graded cards is $6,546 (not including the six cards graded less than EX or the 350 ungraded cards!). This is a very sharp-looking 1957 Topps set and one with tremendous break value. Also included is a one-cent wax wrapper (Near Mint). Total: 420 cards and one wrapper. SOLD FOR $6,600
