1955 Topps Complete Set (206)

Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $4,200

8% Nr/Mt, 28% Ex-Mt, 51% Ex, and 13% Vg-Ex (including a few cards lesser). This is a very attractive complete set of the classic 1955 Topps issue, technically ranging from mid to high grade but appearing even stronger, and with many condition highlights, including an exceptionally strong example of key card #123 Sandy Koufax (SGC NM 84). Highlighted by the rookie cards of Sandy Koufax and Roberto Clemente, the 1955 Topps also includes many additional key star cards, including Ted Williams and Willie Mays. We have selected eight cards to be graded and encapsulated by SGC (submitted by REA). Keys: #1 Rhodes (Vg-Ex+), 2 Williams (EX 60), 4 Kaline (99/1 T/B, otherwise Ex), 28 Banks (Ex), 31 Spahn (Ex), 47 Aaron (EX/NM+ 82), 50 Robinson (EX 60), 100 Irvin (1/99 T/B, otherwise Ex-Mt), 120 Kluszewski (Ex-Mt), 123 Koufax (NM 84), 124 Killebrew (EX/NM+ 82), 125 Boyer (Ex+), 152 Agganis RC (Ex+), 155 Mathews (Ex), 164 Clemente (EX 60), 187 Hodges (Ex-Mt), 189 Rizzuto (Ex), 194 Mays (EX/NM 80), 198 Berra (Ex), and 210 Snider (EX 60). Attractive mid-grade sets of classic issues from the 1950s such as this, especially when the set is on the strong side of the term "mid-grade" and the many stars and key cards are so pleasing and consistent with the rest of the set, always generate tremendous collector interest. This is the type of vintage set that to many collectors represents the very best value. The equivalent SMR value for just the eight graded cards (factoring in the two half-grades at the lower whole-grade level and not including the 198 ungraded cards!) is $3,250. Total: 206 cards. SOLD FOR $4,200
