1955 Topps Near-Complete Set (174/206) Plus 185 Duplicates

Starting Bid - $400, Sold For - $1,440

Presented is a very attractive and consistent mid-grade near-complete set of 1955 Topps (174 of the 206 cards in the set) plus 185 duplicates (for a total of 359 cards)! One of the most popular and classic of all baseball-card sets, the 1955 Topps set is highlighted by many Hall of Famers, including the rookie cards of Hall of Famers Sandy Koufax and Harmon Killebrew. Overall condition of the near set (174 different cards) is 75% Vg-Ex to Ex, 21% Vg, and 4% lesser. The 185 duplicates grade: 19% Ex, 55% Vg-Ex, and 26% Vg. We have selected six cards to be graded and encapsulated by PSA. Keys: #2 Williams (Fr), 28 Banks (Gd), four 31 Spahn (three Vg-Ex and Vg), two 47 Aaron (VG 3 and Vg), 50 Robinson (VG 3), three 100 Irvin (two Vg-Ex and Vg+), three 120 Kluszewski (Ex, Vg-Ex, and Vg), 123 Koufax RC (FR 1.5), three 124 Killebrew RC (EX 5 and two Vg-Ex), 125 Boyer (Vg+), two 152 Agganis RC (Vg-Ex and Gd/Vg), 155 Mathews (Vg-Ex+), 187 Hodges (VG-EX 4), 189 Rizzuto (Vg), 194 Mays (EX 5), and 198 Berra (Gd+). Missing the following thirty-two cards for completion: #1 Rhodes, 4 Kaline, 21, 37, 42, 43, 45, 48, 60, 65, 68, 75, 76, 104, 118, 137, 162, 164 Clemente, 177-184, 197, 200, 206-208, and 210 Snider. Attractive mid-grade complete or near-complete sets of classic issues, such as 1955 Topps, are understandably extremely popular with collectors. It's easy to see why: they share the enormous historical significance of higher-grade sets but don't cost a fortune. This near-set, as noted above, is accompanied by 185 duplicates, which hopefully will come in handy for trading to complete the primary set (or could serve as the foundation for the assembly of a second set). Total: 359 cards (174 different plus 185 duplicates).
