1961 and 1962 Post Cereal Complete Sets (2 sets, 400 cards) Plus 157 Duplicates, 1960 Post Eddie Mathews, and 45 1962 & 1963 Jello Cards

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,680

Outstanding collection of early 1960s package-design cards, highlighted by complete 1961 and 1962 Post Cereal sets, as well as a single scarce large-format 1960 Post Cereal example, 157 duplicates from the 1961 Post Cereal set, and forty-five cards from the 1962 and 1963 Jello issues. The Post Cereal sets are among the great classics of the 1960s. These sets are loaded with all the stars and Hall of Famers of the day. Each set is complete at 200 cards. The 1961 set was available in one of two ways: "company cards," which were perforated cards available on sheets directly from Post via mail, and "box cards," which were available on the actual cereal boxes (on the back of the box) and were intended to be hand-cut. The 1961 Post Cereal set offered here is comprised of 194 box cards and six company cards. The 157 duplicates are all company cards and offer a tremendous foundation for the assembly of complete 200-card sets of both box and company variations. All the grades in the following condition composite are without respect to the neatness of the cut, as almost all of the cards are cut inside of the borders and would only qualify for "Authentic" if submitted for professional grading (this pertains less to the company cards, which are perforated and generally present neater, although some of these cards have also been cut).

This collection consists of the following: 1) 1960 Post Cereal (1 card):
Eddie Mathews (Vg-Ex, with side panel attached). 2) 1961 Post Cereal Complete Set (200 cards): Comprised of 194 box cards and six company cards. Overall condition is 82% Vg-Ex to Ex and 18% Gd to Vg (including a few lesser). All cards in the following composite are box cards unless noted. The other cards grade Gd to Vg, with five lesser.

From an old-time collection! This is an extremely attractive collection of cards from these classic early 1960s food issues, which in our opinion are underrated and, compared to most others sets of the era, are very difficult to find in set form (which is not surprising in light of how these cards were issued). Total: 604 cards. SOLD FOR $1,680
