1954 Bowman Near-Complete Set (205/225) Including #66 Ted Williams

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $1,680

Extremely sharp looking near-complete set of 1954 Bowman (205 of the 225 cards in the set). 15% Nr/Mt, 46% Ex-Mt, and 39% Ex (including 5% lesser, mostly Vg-Ex). Missing the following cards for completion: #25, 27, 31, 33, 37, 41, 66, 75, 82, 83, 87, 90, 96, 98, 106, 110, 140, 182, 184, and 209. This is a very attractive mid- to high-grade set of one of the most overlooked (and compared to many other sets, most reasonably valued) classic bubble-gum card issues from the golden age of the 1950s. The #66 Ted Williams is the key card to the 1954 Bowman set and one of the legendary key cards among all postwar gum cards. We have selected ten cards to be graded by PSA. Keys: #1 Rizzuto (Ex+), 6 Fox (Ex-Mt), 15 Ashburn (Vg-Ex), 45 Kiner (Ex+), 50 Kell (Ex-Mt+), 57 Wilhelm (Ex), 58 Reese (VG-EX+ 4.5), 62 Slaughter (Ex+), 64 Mathews (EX 5), 65 Mantle (EX 5), 66a Williams (PSA "Authentic," due to evidence of trimming, otherwise Ex), 84 Doby (Ex-Mt+), 89 Mays (EX+ 5.5), 95 Roberts (Ex-Mt), 132 Feller (VG 3), 138 Hodges (EX-MT 6), 145 Martin (EX+ 5.5), 161 Berra (PSA "Authentic," due to evidence of trimming, otherwise Ex-Mt), 164 Wynn (Ex), 170 Snider (NM 7), 177 Ford (possible slight trim, otherwise Ex-Mt), and 196 Lemon (Ex+). The SMR value for just six of the ten graded cards (not including the four cards graded less than EX and also not including the 195 ungraded cards!) is $900. Total: 205 cards. SOLD FOR $1,680
