1949 Bowman Complete Set (240) Plus Six Variations

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $3,300

21% Vg-Ex (including a few Ex), 65% Gd to Vg, and 14% lesser. This is an extremely attractive complete set of 1949 Bowman, one of the most popular and classic of all baseball-card sets. Also included are six variations (#98, 109, 124, 126, 132, and 143). While the condition of cards from this set spans several grades, even the lesser-graded cards are very pleasing, and many have been downgraded solely due to flaws on the reverse, such as small spots of paper loss. Many rookie cards of Hall of Famers are featured in this classic postwar issue, highlighted by Richie Ashburn, Duke Snider, Robin Roberts, Early Wynn, and Bob Lemon. We have selected three cards to be graded and encapsulated by SGC. Keys: #1 Bickford (Pr/Fr), 11 Boudreau (Gd/Vg), 23 Doerr (Ex), 24 Musial (EX 60), 26 Kell (Gd/Vg), 27 Feller (Pr), 29 Kiner (Fr), 33 Spahn (Gd), 36 Reese (handcut, misprinted back), 46 Roberts RC (Gd), 50 Robinson (VG 40), 60 Berra (Gd), 65 Slaughter (Gd), 70 Furillo RC (Fr), 84 Campanella RC (Fr), 85a Mize NNOF (Pr), 98a Rizzuto NNOF (Pr), 98b Rizzuto NOF (Vg), 100 Hodges RC (Vg), 110 Wynn RC (Gd), 111 Schoendienst (Fr/Gd), 175 Appling (Vg), 194 Branca RC (Gd), 209 Keller (Vg), 210 Gordon (Vg), 214 Ashburn RC (Gd), 224 Paige (VG 40), 225 Coleman RC (Fr), 226 Snider RC (Fr), 229 Lopat RC (Gd/Vg), 233 Doby (Gd), and 238 Lemon RC (Vg). 1949 Bowman is the most underrated set in terms of rarity among Topps and Bowman sets issued between 1948 and 1955. This set is from a very old-time collection. We rarely see 1949 Bowman sets, let alone relatively affordable sets that are in such consistent condition. Total: 246 cards. SOLD FOR $3,300
