1937-1939 Orcajo Cincinnati Reds Postcards Near-Complete Set (28/37) Including Joe DiMaggio

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $1,560

Presented is a near-complete set of Orcajo Cincinnati Reds Postcards, consisting of twenty-eight of the thirty-seven postcards in the set (as listed in The Standard Catalog), highlighted by Hall of Famers Bill McKechnie, Ernie Lombardi, and Joe DiMaggio. Any baseball fan will immediately recognize that DiMaggio never played for the Reds, but the Orcajo company inexplicably opted to include him in its set. The postcards, which measure 3.5 x 5.5 inches, feature black-and-white photos on glossy stock with a standard postcard reverse and an "Orcajo Photo Art, Dayton, Ohio" tagline. Seven cards grade Vg-Ex to Ex (with one Vg), due to light wear at the corners or small surface wrinkles on the fragile glossy stock. The remaining twenty-one postcards present in similar condition, but would technically grade modestly due to adhesive and album residue on the reverse. Missing Cascarella, Cooke, Cuyler, V. Davis, Grissom, Hollingsworth, Roush, Schott, and Reds Team for completion. This is a very attractive near-complete set of these infrequently encountered team postcards, highlighted by three Hall of Famers, including Joe DiMaggio. Total: 28 postcards. SOLD FOR $1,560
