1933 V353 World Wide Gum Canadian Goudey #80 Babe Ruth SGC NM+ 86 - Highest Graded!

Starting Bid - $2,000, Sold For - $10,200

Graded NM+ 86 by SGC. This is one of only two examples graded at this level by SGC with none higher. In Spring 2014, REA offered an outstanding V353 Canadian Goudey collection, presented in several lots, that was new to the modern collecting world and had remained in the possession of the original owner's family until just recently. The exceptional high grade of the entire collection was due to the good fortune of having been stored away, undisturbed, for decades. This Ruth card was the one card that was held back and is the prize of the collection! Stunning ultra high-grade example of key card Babe Ruth from the 1933 World Wide Gum Canadian Goudey series. This example of #80 Babe Ruth (one of two Ruth cards in the set) is remarkably crisp and clean, both front and back, with four sharp corners displaying only tiny touches of wear at the tips under close inspection. Extremely well centered all around. The reverse displays bold green lettering and ideal natural toning. This is a gorgeous card that looks NM-MT! Exceptionally crisp ultra high-grade example of one of the two Babe Ruth cards from this rare Canadian Goudey series. The equivalent SMR value in NM 7 (no SMR exists for half-grades from this set) is $6,000.
