1934-1936 R327 Diamond Stars Complete Set Minus One (107/108)
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $3,900
31% Vg-Ex to Ex, 25% Vg, 34% Pr to Gd (including some with Vg-Ex or better appearance but with tape residue on reverse), and 10% trimmed or measuring small. A very attractive collector-grade complete set (minus one) of this classic 1930s gum card issue, which is highlighted by thirty-two Hall of Famers and includes all twelve of the rare high-number series cards (#97-108), which have always made this issue so difficult to complete. These cards may be somewhat modest in grade, but they are highly collectible, relatively affordable (compared to a higher-grade set), and look great! Missing only #16 L. Waner for completion. We have selected three cards to be graded by SGC. Keys: #1 Grove (Gd/Vg), 2 Simmons (light pencil on back, otherwise Vg-Ex), 3 Maranville (Vg), 9 Cochrane (Pr), 11 Dickey (SGC Authentic, trimmed), 14 Terry (Gd+), 17 Frisch (Pr), 18 Hafey (Fr), 27 Traynor (light tape residue on reverse, otherwise Ex+), 28 Lopez (Ex+), 30 Manush (Vg+), 31 Cuyler (Ex), 32 Rice (Gd), 35 Averill (Vg), 36 Lombardi (Vg-Ex), 39 Hubbell (light tape residue on reverse, otherwise Vg), 43 Lyons (Gd+), 44 Hornsby (light tape residue on reverse, otherwise Ex), 48 Ferrell (light tape residue on reverse, otherwise Vg), 50 Ott (Pr), 54 Greenberg Error (SGC EX 60), 59 Bottomley (Vg+), 60 Ruffing (Fr), 63 Jackson (Vg-Ex), 64 Foxx (Vg), 66 Medwick (Gd/Vg), 74 Lazzeri (SGC VG/EX+ 55), 77 Gehringer (Fr), 83 Waner (Ex+), 91 Harris (Vg), 95 Appling (Fr), 97 Lopez (Gd), 98 (Vg-Ex), 99 Traynor (slight trim, otherwise Vg-Ex), 100 Averill (Vg), 101 (Vg+), 102 (slight trim, otherwise Vg), 103 Dickey (Gd), 104 Rolfe (Vg-Ex), 105 Lombardi (Vg-Ex+), 106 (Vg-Ex), 107 (Vg+), 108 Berger (Fr). The equivalent SMR for just the two graded cards (not including the one card encapsulated "Authentic" or the 104 ungraded cards!) is $485. Total: 107 cards.
