1910 S74 "Colored" Tobacco Silks Ty Cobb
Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $840
Graded VG/EX 50 by SGC. Extremely attractive high-grade 1910 S74 "Colored" Tobacco Silk of Hall of Famer Ty Cobb. S74 silks are related to the T205 Gold Border series, and share the same basic player designs. There are two very similar S74 sets, one ever so slightly larger than the other, and the centerpiece in each set is Ty Cobb. The offered example features a crisp image of Cobb in blue print set against the pink-colored silk. The factory designation is printed at the top, with advertising for Turkey Red Cigarettes at the bottom. There is slight fraying to the edges (which is standard for this series). A few light horizontal wrinkles are visible on the silk, but this "comes with the territory" with silks, which are very thin and easily susceptible to creasing or wrinkling. S74s represent one of the very best values of all 1910-era baseball tobacco issues. This Ty Cobb silk is the key to the S74 "Colored" Silks set and would be a worthy addition to any S74, Ty Cobb or 1910-era card collection. SOLD FOR $840
