1911 Jones, Keyser & Arras Chief Meyers Cabinet Card
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $2,400
Graded VG/EX 50 by SGC. Exceptional example of Chief Meyers from the extremely rare cabinet-card set issued in 1911 by Jones, Keyser & Arras Studios of New York City. This is the ONLY example ever graded by SGC! (A total of only twenty-two cabinets from this series, of all subjects, have been graded to date.) Little is known about exactly how this unusual and remarkably high quality set was issued. Each cabinet card (4.75 x 7.25 inches) in the set features a mounted sepia-toned photograph on the front and the studio's name and address in the lower left on the reverse. This is one of the rarest and most substantial of all prewar issues, and even finding a sample card from this set is very challenging. The offered example of Chief Meyers has survived in exceptional condition, with a flawless photograph and no creasing or wrinkling to the mount. Honest, even wear to the corners accounts for the assigned grade, which is the highest grade ever assigned to a Jones, Keyser & Arras cabinet by SGC (two other cards, featuring different players, are also graded at this level). Clean reverse. This is a superb and extremely high-grade sample card rarity worthy of the finest collection. SOLD FOR $2,400
