1911 D359 Rochester Baking Topsy Hartsel - 1 of 1 - Highest Graded!
Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $600
Graded VG+ 45 by SGC. This is the ONLY example graded at this level with none higher! Very attractive sample card of Topsy Hartsel from the 1911 D359 Rochester Baking series. D359s are among the rarest of all 1910-era issues. Produced to commemorate the Athletics’ 1910 Championship season, the set features exclusively Athletics, including manager Connie Mack. Four different companies (Rochester Baking, Williams Baking, Cullivan’s Fireside Tobacco, and blank-backed versions catalogued as E104-1 Nadja) issued the 18-card Philadelphia Athletics set in 1911. The cards measure 1-1/2 x 2-5/8 inches, which is the standard size for tobacco and candy issues, but are considerably rarer than most 1910-era “E” and “T” card issues. This sample is bright and clean, with a bold blue background and even wear to the four corners. A small part of another card is visible along the bottom border on both front and back. Clean, boldly printed reverse. This is an extremely attractive sample card from this rare bakery-card set. SOLD FOR $600
