1911 D359 Williams Baking Topsy Hartsel

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $360

Graded VG 40 by SGC. Only two examples have been graded higher by SGC. Mid-grade example of Topsy Hartsel from the extremely rare D359 Williams Baking series. This card features a classic portrait image with the "1910 World's Champions" overprint. D359s are among the rarest of all 1910-era issues. Produced to commemorate the Athletics’ 1910 Championship season, the set exclusively features Athletics, including manager Connie Mack. The very same images were used for similar sets issued by Rochester Baking and T208 Cullivan's Fireside Tobacco. The offered card is bright and crisp, with near-perfect centering and even wear to the corners. Downgraded to VG due to light edge wear along the left edge as well as scattered staining on the front and back. The Williams Baking advertisement on back is boldly printed. An outstanding sample card from this rare bakery-card issue.
