1909-1911 T206 White Border Southern Leaguers Complete Set (48) Including Hindu Backs
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $2,700
The Southern Leaguers have always been appreciated for their scarcity and as a popular subset to the T206 series. They have also always been listed at a significant premium in relation to regular cards in the set. Presented is a complete set of all forty-eight scarce T206 Southern Leaguers, which were consigned to this auction as part of an "old-time" near-complete set assembled decades ago, which we have broken up into several lots. Twenty cards have Old Mill advertising on the back, twenty-six have Piedmont backs, and two have desirable Brown Hindu backs. The majority of the cards in this subset technically range from Poor to Good, with eleven slightly better (grading Vg) and four cards slightly trimmed (otherwise presenting as Vg to Vg-Ex), but all are still very presentable examples of these T206 scarcities. The scarcity of the Southern Leaguers has always made putting together a complete T206 set particularly difficult. This is a very attractive low-grade complete collection of Southern Leaguers. Total: 48 cards.
The items in this lot are part of the deaccessioned property of a prominent northeast museum which has selected Robert Edward Auctions to handle the sale of donated sportscards and memorabilia in an effort to fund purchases more in line with the mission and goals of the museum. SOLD FOR $2,700
