1909-1911 T206 White Border Christy Mathewson White Cap - Sovereign Back!

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,320

Graded VG-EX 4 by PSA. Extremely attractive example of one of the three classic poses of Christy Mathewson from the T206 White Borders series. The offered white cap example is all the more noteworthy as the reverse has an advertisement for Sovereign Cigarettes (150 Subjects). Sovereign backs are unusual and very scarce, though not in the same league as the rarest of T206 backs (such as Lennox, Uzit, or Drum). This example is well centered, with extremely vibrant colors, even wear to the corners, and flawless registration. Very strong in all respects, with only a small bend in the lower left corner keeping this card from grading Excellent. Extremely clean, both front and back, bright and crisp, with snow-white borders. A high-quality example and a very interesting scarce-back variety of this classic Christy Mathewson card. SOLD FOR $1,320
