1909-1911 T206 White Border Tris Speaker - Cycle 350 Back - Name on Top and Bottom!

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $720

Crisp, clean example of this classic tobacco card of Hall of Famer Tris Speaker, considered by many to be among the most attractive of all T206 images, featuring a desirable Cycle 350 advertising reverse. Cycle is a scarce back, certainly not in the same league as Drum or Uzit, but very unusual and seen far less often than the standard Piedmont or Sweet Caporal advertising back. This is a particularly important Hall of Fame card in the set, as this is the only pose of Speaker in the entire T206 set, as well as being his rookie card. Graded VG-EX 4 (MC) by PSA, this example displays light, even wear to the four corners, flawless registration, bold colors, and no creases or wrinkles. Part of the nameplate "Speaker, Boston Amer." is visible along the top edge, which accounts for the "MC" qualifier. Of course, it is the very fact that this card is miscut, with a portion of the name (and team and league designation) of the card above visible and providing insight into how the T206 set was printed, that will make this card so fascinating to many collectors. The Cycle reverse is entirely clean, boldly printed, and centered to the bottom. Aside from its extremely unusual and interesting miscut, this is very attractive example of this classic tobacco card of Tris Speaker featuring a desirable Cycle reverse.
