1909-1911 T206 White Border Simon Nicholls Hands on Knees - Interesting Printing Anomaly!

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $960

Fascinating example of Simon Nicholls/hands on knees (Philadelphia Athletics) from the legendary T206 White Border series. This card is noteworthy for two reasons. First, it is in extraordinary high grade, having been professionally graded and encapsulated NM-MT 8 (OC) by PSA. Four razor-sharp corners, a crisp, clean image with vibrant colors, and centered to the bottom, which accounts for the qualifier. Boldly printed blue Piedmont advertising reverse. The second noteworthy element about this card is the presence of an interesting wet-sheet transfer on the front of the card. Somewhere along the line, a wet Piedmont 150 back was stacked on top of this card, leaving almost an entire imprint of the advertising back on the front of this card. One can clearly see outlines of "Base Ball Series, 150 Subjects," and the second half of "Piedmont" in the light blue sky above the image of Nichols. This is also an interesting wet-sheet transfer in that it appears almost fluorescent in nature. The T206 set, affectionately known as "The Monster," is the most popular of all 1910-era sets and is still yielding new and exciting discoveries more than a century after its production. As collectors have become more sophisticated, there has been a growing appreciation for all great rarities and unusual cards associated with this landmark set. This is an extremely interesting and unusual printing anomaly that will be very much appreciated by collectors of the various nuances of the iconic T206 set. SOLD FOR $960
