1909-1911 T206 White Border Sherry Magie - Error
Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $6,600
Graded FAIR 20 by SGC (submitted by REA). An extremely presentable and relatively affordable low-grade example of the famous T206 Magie error card. This is one of the rarest cards in the set, and is usually one of the last cards required by collectors to complete the T206 set. This card has been recognized as one of the great rarities since the days of Jefferson Burdick. (In fact, Burdick singled out the Magie as one of the significant T206 rarities in the original American Card Catalog.) The offered card shares many qualities with a VG example: a crisp image, bold colors, light corner wear, and a small crease in the upper left corner. It has been downgraded due to a few small surface chips, which have resulted in tiny areas of paper loss. The card still has superb overall eye-appeal and presents far better than many comparably graded examples. The reverse features a clean advertisement for Piedmont Cigarettes (150 Subjects, Factory No. 25). This is an extremely pleasing technically low-grade, and therefore relatively affordable, example of one of card collecting's most famous rarities. SOLD FOR $6,600
