1909-1911 T206 White Border Printing Anomalies Collection (4) - All with Multiple Backs Showing!
Starting Bid - $400, Sold For - $1,680
Fascinating collection of four different unique cards from the legendary T206 White Border series, each of which is particularly notable for a significant factory miscut on the back which has resulted in portions of multiple advertising backs being visible. All four cards feature well-centered fronts but have experienced shifting of the reverse production sheet during the printing process. The backs of three of the four cards are misprinted side-to-side, which has resulted in portions of two advertising backs visible. Two are Sweet Caporal (Nicholls/hands on knees and Stovall/batting), while the other is a particularly scarce Sovereign miscut (Phelps). The fourth card, a Piedmont (Flanagan), experienced a printing shift top-to-bottom AND side-to-side, resulting in portions of THREE advertising backs showing. While collectors would appreciate these cards in any condition as the miscut nature of the backs is of primary significance, all four cards have been professionally graded and encapsulated by SGC (three GOOD 30 and one VG+ 45). The advertising backs are clean on all the cards, and the Sovereign example is particularly bold and flawless. The T206 set, affectionately known as "The Monster," is the most popular of all 1910-era sets and is still yielding new and exciting discoveries more than a century after its production. As collectors have become more sophisticated, there has been a growing appreciation for all great rarities and unusual cards associated with this landmark set. These four cards are noteworthy T206 printing errors that we believe will be of great interest to T206 scholars and collectors. Total: 4 cards. SOLD FOR $1,680
