1909-1911 T206 White Border Christy Mathewson SGC-Graded Collection - All 3 Poses!

Starting Bid - $400, Sold For - $1,440

Presented are all three classic poses of Christy Mathewson from the T206 White Borders series, each very attractive but technically modest in grade. All three cards are graded and encapsulated by SGC (submitted by REA). 1) The dark-cap pose grades VG/EX+ 55. Strong image, excellent centering, bold colors, and light, even wear to the corners. Sweet Caporal reverse. 2) The portrait pose grades VG 40. Crisp image, vibrant colors, superb centering, and even rounding to the four corners (slightly more in the upper right). Piedmont 150 reverse. 3) The white-cap pose grades GOOD 30. Presenting as VG+, the card has been downgraded due to erased writing on the reverse. Flawless image, bold colors, and outstanding centering. Piedmont 150 reverse. This is a very attractive yet relatively affordable trio of classic original Christy Mathewson tobacco cards, representing a potentially outstanding vintage-card value. Total: 3 cards.

The items in this lot are part of the deaccessioned property of a prominent northeast museum which has selected Robert Edward Auctions to handle the sale of donated sportscards and memorabilia in an effort to fund purchases more in line with the mission and goals of the museum.
