1909-1911 T206 White Border Vic Willis Throwing - Rare Lenox Back!
Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $7,800
Addendum: We have received input and inquiries about this card from several knowledgeable T206 collectors who feel the card may not be a true Brown Lenox. Upon comparing this card to the other Lenox backs in this auction, we can see a difference in it, but armed with new information, we feel that it may actually be black and therefore will present it as such. PSA is of the opinion that it is brown as evidenced by their decision to label it as a Brown Lenox. Because this card is still a Hall of Famer with a very rare back, we will let the auction process continue. It will be up to the individual collector to decide if he feels it is brown. We can provide high resolution scans via email to any interested bidders. Please bid accordingly with the information that we believe the back is black.
Presented is a very rare Lenox reverse T206, ideally featuring Hall of Famer Vic Willis in a throwing pose on front. Ranked by T206Resource.com as the eighth most difficult back (out of thirty-nine different advertising backs). The offered example is graded VG 3 by PSA. Bright and crisp with bold colors, near-perfect centering, and even wear to the four corners. Boldly printed reverse. This is an outstanding example of this tremendous advertising-back rarity and one that would make a worthy addition to any T206 back collection. SOLD FOR $7,800
