1909-1911 T206 White Border Walter Johnson Hands at Chest SGC EX 60

Starting Bid - $400, Sold For - $1,320

Graded EX 60 by SGC (submitted by REA). Hands-at-chest pose. Extremely attractive high-grade T206 of Hall of Fame pitcher Walter Johnson. Johnson, of course, is one of the key Hall of Famers in the T206 White Borders set, which is universally recognized as one of the most substantial and beautiful sets ever produced. Bright and clean, with a deep blue background and perfect registration. Near-perfect centering with only light touches of wear at the corners (slightly more in the upper right). Clean, boldly printed Sweet Caporal advertising reverse. This card would be a worthy addition to any high-grade T206, Walter Johnson, or Hall of Fame card collection. This is an exceptional classic vintage card in an extremely desirable grade.

The item in this lot is part of the deaccessioned property of a prominent northeast museum which has selected Robert Edward Auctions to handle the sale of donated sportscards and memorabilia in an effort to fund purchases more in line with the mission and goals of the museum.
